Best Activities to Kids in Phuket

Phuket is considered one of the best family-friendly vacation destinations in Thailand. This is thanks to the many fun activities kids of different ages can indulge in. Some activities even have professional supervision in place meaning the parents or guardians can drop off the kids in a safe and fun environment, and comfortably go off to explore other areas or simply relax.

Surf House Phuket

This is a surfing facility where adults and kids can ride waves all day long and under any weather conditions. The artificial waves generated by the FlowRider surf machine flow over a rubberised floor that makes it safe even if you take a tumble. It is a safe and controlled environment in which you can teach the younger ones how to surf, with instructors on hand when you need them.

The facility has a trendy café located adjacent to the pool area where you can enjoy delectable seafood cuisine, snacks and drinks. You can also visit the on-site Surf and Shop for the latest surf and beachwear and gear. Surf House has two venues to choose from in Kata and Patong.

Splash Jungle Water Park

This mid-sized water park offers lots of water-related fun activities for kids. From tube slides and the vertical wall to waterfalls and the lazy river, the kids can set whatever pace they want. There is even a kids zone where toddlers can enjoy many aqua-themed games.

The park also hosts several bars and cafes where the whole family can grab a bite to eat and drink. There are lockers for rent where you can safely stash your belongings before jumping into the water or lounging by the pools. The park also offers hotel accommodation that includes rooms and poolside villas to choose from.

Phuket Elephant Sanctuary

For families that love roaming the outdoors and wildlife, this is the perfect attraction to visit. Located next to Khao Phra Thaeo National Park, this ethical sanctuary covers over acres of ground covered in lush tropical and indigenous vegetation where groups can be taken on guided tours. It hosts over a dozen old and injured rescue elephants looking for a safe place to live out their lives.

A 600 metre, 6-metre-high canopy walkway offers an alternative viewpoint from which to observe the elephants roaming and foraging in the jungle below. Those with a fear of heights can still enjoy the tour on the ground, albeit at a safe distance that grants the elephants freedom to move freely.

Flying Hanuman

For a higher octane family-friendly experience, try zip lining on the Flying Hanuman. Suitable for kids aged years and above, this zip line will take you over a natural rainforest surrounding Kathu Village.

Both thrilling and fun, you will find yourself being released from platforms that can be as much as 40 metres off the ground. The courses are made up of 28 wooden platforms, 2 sky bridges, and 15 zip lines. The zip line course covers over 80,000 square metres of forest meaning you are likely to hear plenty of screams, laughs, and shrieks from a distance through the dense foliage. It can take about 2 hours to complete the course. There are photographers on-site who will be sure to document this unforgettable experience for posterity.
